What is 4-H?

4-H is a global youth development organization that empowers young people by teaching them leadership, citizenship, and life skills through a hands-on, “learn by doing” approach. The 4-H name represents four values that guide the organization: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.

The 4-H’s

Head – Mental Development (Deeper knowledge and reasoning). Heart – Emotional Development (Developing interest, appreciation, and wholesome attitudes).
Hands – Skills Development (Ability to do, skill in doing, and habit of doing).
Health – Physical Development (Understanding and appreciating a growing and changing body, nutrition, exercise), and Emotional Development (developing and maintaining positive relationships with others).

These principles aim to help young people develop critical thinking, caring leadership, practical skills, and a commitment to well-being. 4-H members typically engage in a variety of activities, from growing crops to animal care, environmental sustainability, and public speaking.
